St. Edward’s Community Outreach & Giving Initiatives

During the months of November and December, the parishioners of St. Edward’s reached out to the wider community in many ways:

Camp Fire/ALERT

We collected over $600 in gift cards. In response to devastating fires in California. ALERT collected gift cards in any amount to send to St. Johns Episcopal Church in Chico, California to be distributed to those who have lost so much in the Camp fire. The gift card collection was organized by Ted Cardwell.

UTO Ingathering

We collected $581.58 for our UTO Ingathering, organized by Ellen Milligan.

Jesse Tree

We collected gifts and monetary donations for 60 children in the COBYS organization as part of our annual Jesse Tree collection to help those children that are in need at Christmas time. Many thanks to the Social Outreach Committee, including Beth Lynch, Leslie Arnold, Ellen and Kevin Milligan and all those who donated and helped to shop, wrap and deliver the gifts.

Lancaster Chamber Singers Concert at St. Edward’s, Sunday, December 2nd

We are very lucky to have the Lancaster Chamber Singers call St. Edward’s their “home” as their rehearsal space.  They enjoy our hospitality and find the acoustics to be exceptional.  Which is also why they utilize St. Edwards’ as one of their concert venues.  On Sunday, December 2nd at 3:00 PM, The Lancaster Chamber Singers concludes its 40th anniversary year with “Festival of Voices and Brass.”  The ensemble will be joined by the Lancaster Brass Quintet and additional brass and percussion to present glorious sounds of the Christmas season from the 16th through the 21st centuries and will join the audience in several beloved carols.

Special presentation by the Lancaster Brass Quintet will begin 20 minutes prior to the concert.  Tickets can be purchased at the door or on their web site:

Krist Kindling 2018

The beginning of Advent is just around the corner! It’s time again to think about some pre-holiday fun with Krist Kindling.  I hope you’ll consider joining us in our 25th annual Krist Kindling Advent activity!

Krist Kindling is a fun activity where one family gives another family one gift anonymously during each of the three weeks prior to Christmas. The family you are giving gifts to is not the family that is bringing gifts to you.

You don’t have to have kids to participate in this activity. It’s for all ages — the young and the young at heart! All welcome.

Thank you to all who made our 2018 Oktoberfest event a success!  The volunteers, the chefs, the silent auction bidders, the basket auction ticket buyers, and of course all of you who faithfully make baskets each year for us to auction and those who donate their wonderful vacation homes for silent auction.  Without you, we have no event and the fellowship and fundraising it brings.

For Oktoberfest 2018 we raised $3,291!  Thank you!
