St. Edward’s First Annual “Sweaty Sunday” – June 24, 2018

The members of St. Edward’s Vestry invite all parishioners to participate in our First Annual

SWEATY SUNDAY

SUNDAY – JUNE 24, 2018

After the 10:15 service – 3:30 PM

(Rain Date:  Sunday July 1st)

Join us for an afternoon of yard work to spruce up the planted bedding areas of St. Edward’s.  Tasks will include:  weeding, trimming, spreading mulch, removing old/dead plantings, raking up leaves around building perimeter.

Folks could contribute in a variety of ways:

– Through donations to cover the cost of mulch.

– Through signing up to provide food and beverages at an extended coffee “hour.”

– Through labor on the grounds. Individuals in this category should bring rakes, shovels, weeding instruments, trimmers, extension cords, wheelbarrows, etc.

The Vestry will be attending the Sunday service, dressed in outside work clothes and we invite parishioners to do the same!

We look forward to the members of St. Edward’s coming together on this day to celebrate our community, share fellowship, and work together in ministry in tending to this special place that is St. Edward’s!

Donations can be made payable to St. Edward’s and in the memo line write: “Sweaty Sunday.”  A sign up sheet will be in the narthex for food & drink items.

Feed My Starving Children – Social Outreach Activity

It’s that time of year again – time when you can make a difference in the life of a child. Feed My Starving Children will host its annual Mobile Pack event on April 6, 7 and 8. Once again, St. Edward’s has the opportunity to participate in this special event. Over the last 2 years, St. Ed’s has had a group of nearly 20 folks who participated in this event. We are hoping to have at least that many volunteers this year.

Last year’s event hosted 927 volunteers over 5 shifts in 2 days. The event raised over $51,000! And 217,728 meals were packaged – this was enough to feed 596 children a healthy meal every day for an entire year!! The meals were distributed to hungry children in Haiti. It’s hard to believe that this is possible with only 2 hours of your time.

St. Edward’s will be participating on Sat., April 7 from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. Please see the sign up sheet in the narthex. As is the past, we can arrange carpool from St. Ed’s. If you have any question please see Peg Reiley or contact her at 717-940-2856 or [email protected].

The popular Hershey Handbell Ensemble returns to St. Edward’s for a free holiday concert on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 3 p.m. The church is located at 2453 Harrisburg Pike in Landisville, and, although the event is free, an offering will be taken.

This seasonal concert always draws a crowd, so attendees are urged to come early enough to get a seat!

This year’s concert will include Fantasia on Greensleeves, In the Bleak Midwinter, He Shall Feed His Flock and more seasonal favorites.

Based in south-central Pennsylvania, the Hershey Handbell Ensemble was formed in 2004 to fill the need for an auditioned community ensemble comprised of persons able to play advanced literature, and interested in advancing the art of handbell ringing through education and performance while uniting people through the musical arts. The 15-member group, under the direction of Dr. Shawn Gingrich, performs on seven octaves of Malmark Handbells, Handchimes, and other assorted instruments.

The Ensemble will have their selection of popular CD recordings available for purchase at the concerts.

The concert is part of a series of events at St. Edward’s showcasing the church’s fellowship outreach. To get on the church’s email list for events’ notifications, readers should email: [email protected] with “Subscribe Events” in the subject line.

St. Edward’s Fundraising: October 2017

Our final week before our big event is here!  Purchase tickets for a chance to win one of our wonderful baskets!  Tickets are 6/$5 or $1/each.

Also, consider taking a Silent Auction bidding number to bid on one of the four fabulous items we have to offer:  2 vacation rentals, a gourmet dinner, and a Lancaster Barnstormers Luxury Box for one evening next season.

And, saving the best for last is our wonderful evening on October 28th from 4:30 – 6:30 PM.  This year, St. Edward’s has created a fabulous “Supper Club” for all to enjoy. As you walk up the front entrance lined with luminaria, you will enter Edwardo’s Supper Club.  Imagine the wonderful jazz and standard tunes played by our wonderful musician, Doug LaSala, while you dine on a quintessential Italian menu.  Be entertained and delighted by the tableside magic of Joe Holwager.. . . and be ready to laugh with our headliner entertainment, the renowned Teresa Mastrobuono.  It’s all to benefit the ministry of St. Edward’s and to enjoy the fellowship of our parish family.  Of course, you will still have time to buy tickets and make bids throughout the evening until 6:00 PM when we will draw the winners.  So. . . help us reach our goal of $4,000 and keep buying your auction tickets between now and the 28th!

What?  Haven’t bought your Supper Club tickets yet?!?

You will not want to miss what will be a night of fun, frivolity, and fantastic fellowship!  Don’t miss out!  Don’t wait to hear about it on Sunday, the 29th!  We hope to see you there!
