St. Edward’s Thursday Message – December 17th

Dear parishioners & friends of St. Edward’s,

Tonight, we offer a prayer For Joy in God’s Creation, in this Third Week of Advent:

O heavenly Father, who hast filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold thy gracious hand in all thy works; that, rejoicing in thy whole creation, we may learn to serve thee with gladness; for the sake of him through whom all things were made, thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(BCP, pg. 814)

Be well.  Stay safe.  Keep the faith.

Michelle

Scepter articles, photos, submissions are due to Mac Miller by Sunday, December 20th.  Submit to Mac at [email protected].

Please remember the Hempfield Area Food Pantry in your holiday “gift” giving.  They are so thankful for our robust support throughout this year. But, as we enter the 2 week holiday season there are so many families in need of food that any monetary gift we can continue to give to them would be received with immense gratitude.  Thank you!

Looking for a way to brighten someone’s day during the holidays?
We can all participate in our own personal “social outreach.”  Click on the link below to find a list of Retirement Homes in our area that are accepting cards for their residents.  What a nice way for us to reach out to the wider community to let them know that we care!

Retirement Home List for Christmas Cards

Look for our Virtual Holiday Card to be revealed this weekend!  I have had a sneak preview and it is just lovely!  Thank you to Christina McLaughlin and Ellen Milligan for putting this special Christmas sentiment together for our St. Edward’s parish family!

Be a part of a St. Edward’s tradition by contributing to our Christmas Altar Flowers.   We will continue with our tradition of offering people the opportunity to donate to our Christmas Flowers for our Christmas Eve service, live streamed at 8:00 PM, with the names of your loved ones remembered in the service bulletin.  Flower entries are at a suggested donation of $20.  Please email the parish office by December 21st with your names and amount donated.  When sending in your check, please make it payable to St. Edward’s and mark in the memo line “Christmas Flowers.”  Click here for more information.

We have 2021 Episcopal Church calendars in.  If you would like to pick one up next week when you stop by to pick up your consecrated wafers for Christmas Eve services, we will have them available.  The wafers may be picked up Monday, December 21st – Wednesday, December 23rd from 11 AM – 3 PM.  The office is closed on Thursday, December 24th.

We are so fortunate to have an invitation to a wonderful spiritual offering by The Community of Francis and Clare, and Br. David Rutledge, for Christmas Eve morning.  If you were able to join us for the Thanksgiving Morning Prayer, you know how meditative and special these offerings are and we encourage you to join us!
