St. Edward’s Thursday Message – October 8th

Dear friends,

Look for all links related to Sunday worship on our usual Saturday afternoon posting.

Many happenings at St. Edward’s, all listed below with easy-to-click links for reading and downloading of materials.

Our virtual fundraiser is starting to kick into high gear.  With the excitement and generosity of many, to date, we have surpassed our 50% mark towards our fundraising goal. Can we see if we can make it to the “finish line” by October 19th?  Share the catalog link with your friends and family or have them contact the parish office and we can send the catalog link to them. We are $1,900 away from our goal towards what will be our ONLY fundraising event at St. Edward’s for 2020!

Father Rick will be officiating the funeral service for Jerry Burkhardt, which is at 11AM on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Tent on the south lawn of the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz. Interment will follow in Riverview Burial Park, Lancaster. Family and friends will be received under the tent from 5-7 PM on Friday, October 9, 2020 and again from 10-11 AM on Saturday.

The Memorial Garden is nearing completion this week and you will see an amazing transformation at church on Sunday.  It is all very exciting and is a continuation of the beautification of this sacred space.  We will be installing the monument shortly, with the name plaques of loved ones.  Stay tuned for plans for the consecration of this newly beautified space once it is complete, with our sights set on November.

On Saturdays, each week, we will be commencing a “Congregational Care” feature in our emails.  The focus will be on those who would like to share what may be happening in their family or prayers they would like us to keep in our hearts and minds for their family members.  Please look this Saturday for the start of this new weekly segment, thanks to the suggestion of Libby Sternberg, and details on how to submit your “news and prayers” as we seek ways to stay spiritually connected and in prayer with and for each other.

Continue reading below for the details for our Friday and Saturday worship and fellowship activities.

Be well. Stay safe. Keep the faith.

Friday Lunch & Learn:  October 9th 12 Noon – 1 PM via Zoom
Please join us for this informative and spiritual time together.  This week, we will finish our discussion about our Book of Common Prayer (Chapter 2 of Walk in Love).  Attendance at every session is not required.  If you would like to join and need a copy of Walk In Love, please contact the parish office.

Handout for this Friday, October 9th Session click here.

We encourage you to have your Book of Common Prayer for each session and the text, Walk In Love is optional.   If you do not have a copy of the BCP on hand, this link will give you the downloadable pdf.

Remember to take some time to devote to exploring and making notations on the handout that Bob has supplied so that we may engage in our spiritual formation together, sharing our insights, thoughts, and questions, and if you  would like to offer  the closing prayer for any week!

Each week, we will provide a hand out in the Monday emails that you can download and review prior to the Friday session.

With Peace,
Father Rick, Bob Mosebach, and Wanda Stoltzfus
