Worship at St. Edward’s -The Twenty-second Sunday after Pentecost: Proper 25 – October 24, 2021

Dear parishioners and friends of St. Edward’s,

Father Rick and all of us at St. Edward’s welcome you to our Sunday worship, tomorrow, the Twenty-second Sunday after Pentecost:  Proper 25.  Whether you will be joining us in-person, or via our live stream on our St. Edward’s YouTube Channel, please know we are glad to be worshipping with you!  All of the important links you need to our YouTube channel and our Sunday service bulletins are listed below.

If you are joining us for in-person worship and fellowship, we prayerfully ask that you wear your mask as we gather together in community.

In preparation for All Saints Sunday, November 7th, we have a clipboard in the narthex for those who wish to have their loved ones, who have passed, remembered.  We will print the names in our Sunday service bulletins.  Please print clearly so that we do not capture the spelling of names incorrectly.  Thank you!

In looking for a brief blessing to close out the week I was drawn to “Themed Prayers and Liturgies for the Home” in the Celtic Daily Prayer – Book Two.  After all, St. Edward’s is our spiritual home and what better way to end the week than with a prayer for such an important space in our lives.

The prayer was introduced by speaking about a mezuzah. I have a lifelong Jewish friend and 32 years ago, I gifted his family home with a beautiful mezuzah in thanks for our friendship.  For those who do not know the tradition of a mezuzah, it is a small, enclosed scripture-scroll that is attached at the outside doorpost of one’s home, at eye-level.  When one enters the home, or building, the mezuzah is touched or looked at as a reminder for prayer. Such a rich tradition.  The prayer offered below, “could act as a mezuzah does by becoming a simple way of blessing every time spent at home.”

Jesus the Door,
my heart is open.

I also wanted to mention one other insight I gained today:  In looking at the calendar in my office, I noticed a little notation and drawing that was from last week.  Simply stated, it read:  “Call someone who is lonely today.”

Perhaps these two messages are an invitation to look beyond the busyness and distractions in our lives and focus on what is most important.  And that is love.

Rest well.  Keep the faith. Journey in peace.

Michelle

Worship at St. Edward’s – Palm Sunday, March 28, 2021

Dear parishioners and friends of St. Edward’s,

We welcome you to information regarding the return of our in-person worship, online worship essential links, and ministry offerings for this Sunday, Palm Sunday.  All essential links are noted below.

I prayerfully request that we continue to refrain from gathering, with other parishioners, in public groups, without masks. In Lancaster County, we continue to move towards wider distribution of vaccines, and within our diocese, we are adhering to the same safety protocols we submitted in 2020 for our in-person worship.  We are all in this together, and honoring our parish community, by continuing to comply with the recommendations set forth during this time, conveys our love for God in Christ, the members of our parish family, and the wider community.

Father Rick+

As we enter this holiest of weeks, we are in deep prayer and silence, relying on our strong hearts, our willing hearts, and our believing hearts to endure the burdens of this life as we walk in the way of the cross and remember our Lord Jesus Christ, and all that he gave, of himself, for us.

Saint Paul said:  Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.

Be well.  Stay safe.  Keep the faith.

Michelle

Please see a listing below and stay tuned to our weekly emails, web site posts, and Sunday bulletins for updates on specific details. We invite you to celebrate with us, as a community of faith!

If you would like to participate in our Easter Flowers, “in memory of,” or “in thanksgiving for,” a loved one, friends, family, please sign up on the clipboard in the narthex this Sunday, or email the parish office by Wednesday of this week with your names to be printed in the Easter Sunday bulletin.  Flower donation requested is $20.  Your donations help us beautify the altar and pews for Easter Sunday.
